Regional officials reported that a barrage of artillery, rocket, and drone strikes on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine frontline resulted in the death of at least 10 individuals and left over a dozen wounded.
Russian forces are intensifying their efforts in the eastern Donetsk region in anticipation of May 9, a date significant to Moscow as it commemorates the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II. Meanwhile, Ukraine eagerly awaits the arrival of much-needed US weapons promised as part of a new military aid package.
Ukrainian officials reported that Russian attacks resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals in the Donetsk region. Additionally, according to authorities installed by Moscow, four people were killed in areas of southern and eastern Ukraine under Russian occupation.
In territories held by Ukraine, a Russian strike on the village of Udachne, approximately 45 kilometers (28 miles) from the frontline, claimed the lives of three people, as confirmed by the region’s governor, Vadim Filashkin.
“The Russians struck the village this afternoon. The administrative building, a cultural center, a coffee shop, and about 20 private houses were damaged,” he said in a post on Telegram.
Three additional casualties were reported in Kurakhivka, located further south, according to the regional prosecutor’s office.
In territories controlled by Russia, a Ukrainian drone attack claimed the lives of two individuals in the southern region of Zaporizhzhia, as stated by the head of the Russian-installed government.
