Hollywood Has Dismal Start at Indian Box Office, Abigal and Challengers Released on the Same Day

Abigail, a horror comedy movie directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and Challengers, a sports drama featuring Zendaya, both debuted in theatres on April 26. Abigail offers a fresh take on Dracula’s Daughter, while Challengers portrays the story of a tennis champion staging a comeback against his wife’s former lover. Regrettably, neither film achieved significant success at the Indian box office.

Both the horror comedy Abigail and the sports drama Challengers hit theaters on April 26. Abigail, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, offers a modern interpretation of the classic 1936 film Dracula’s Daughter.

Early estimates indicate that Abigail earned only Rs 6 lakh at the Indian box office on its first day of release. Zendaya’s Challengers performed even worse, managing to collect a mere Rs 4 lakh in its debut at Indian theaters.

This stands in stark contrast to the performance of Aayush Sharma’s Ruslaan, which achieved much better results in comparison. The action film brought in Rs 60 lakh (according to early estimates) on its opening day in theaters, alongside the two Hollywood releases.
