Godzilla X Kong Maintains Box Office Dominance In North America, Monkey Man Ranks Second on the List

‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ dominated the domestic box office yet again, overshadowing the debuts of ‘Monkey Man’ and ‘The First Omen’. In its second weekend, the monster blockbuster from Warner Bros and Legendary Entertainment raked in $31.7 million across 3,948 theatres.

According to the figures, the film, portrays the massive gorilla and reptilian behemoth setting aside their conflicts to unite to save their species, as well as humanity. While experiencing a typical 60% decline from its impressive $80 million debut, the film has accumulated $132 million domestically and $361 million worldwide.

Taking the second spot with an estimated $10 million in box office earnings was the action film “Monkey Man” helmed and starring British actor Dev Patel.

According to analyst David A. Gross, the thriller, situated in India, is characterized by its intense violence, driven by themes of class disparity, corruption, and individual retribution.

Gross remarked, “Not all foreign narratives resonate in North America, but this one is finding success here,” and expressed confidence that it will yield significant profitability. “Foreign stories do not always work in North America; it’s working here,” he wrote, adding: “it’s going to be very profitable.”
