One of the leading pharmaceutical giants AstraZeneca has admitted that its COVID-19 vaccine can in extreme rate cases cause TTS. This admission was made in a legal document submitted in February to the High Court.
AstraZeneca stated in the document that Vaccine-induced Thrombosis Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) can occur even in the absence of vaccination. It stated that expert testimony will be necessary to establish causation in each case.
The company has been fighting a class action lawsuit alleging that its COVID-19 vaccine, developed in collaboration with the University of Oxford, has resulted in numerous deaths and serious injuries.
Attorneys involved in the case have highlighted the “devastating effect” experienced by some households following vaccination.
Jamie Scott, the father of two, filed a complaint against the company last year. In his complaint, Scott detailed developing a “blood clot and a brain bleed,” resulting in severe brain impairment. He attributed his condition to the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine administered to him in April 2021. His situation was so dire that the hospital informed his wife that Scott was unlikely to survive. AstraZeneca is contesting these allegations in court.
Responding to Scott’s lawyers in May 2023, AstraZeneca said “We do not accept that TTS is caused by the vaccine at a generic level”.
What is TTS?
A very rare syndrome known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) is characterized by the occurrence of blood clots (thrombosis) alongside low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia). It is also referred to as VITT, which stands for ‘vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia’.
Following the widespread distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, researchers identified a link between the vaccine and VITT. The attorneys representing the claimants argue that VITT is a subset of TTS, although AstraZeneca appears to be unaware of this distinction.
Meanwhile, AstraZeneca stated in a statement: “Our sympathy goes out to anyone who has lost loved ones or reported health problems.”
