IMD Issues Heatwave Alerts and Rainfall in Several Regions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert in many states across India including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, North Goa, and West Bengal. It also issued a separate warning for impeding heatwave this week in cities of Maharashtra like Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad.

In Maharashtra, Mumbai and Thane are expected to experience minimum temperatures ranging from 36 to 38 degrees Celcius. Meanwhile, many parts of North Goa, Odisha, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh are anticipated to face heatwave conditions from April 15 to 19.

A yellow alert has been issued in several districts of Kerala, including Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Thiruvananthapuram. Additionally, districts like Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Kasaragod are also expected to experience high temperatures this week.

On the other hand, the weather office has issued a warning for rainfall and thunderstorms in numerous northern states. Due to prevailing weather systems, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are expected to experience light to moderate rain or snowfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and breezy conditions until April 21 in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, and until April 19 in Uttarakhand.
